great for further strength and core building July 20, 2010 Chris K. Yip (NY USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great! I use them at the gym and everyone curious enough would come and want to try. But warning: u MUST already have the strength to use them or u will find ur face kissing the ground, literally. I primarily use them as chest flys (in a push up position, open my arms out at the same time and bringing them back in) and working as an ab-wheel, which is also a great product too but this one just makes it a taaaaad bit harder (no really, it's harder). I'm sure if u are strong enough and creative enough, u can think of other exercises to do... but once u grab the wheels and they are on the ground, they run away based on a tiny shift of ur body weight so u must hold it completely steady and tight. I JUST LOVE THIS PRODUCT! Wish it can be cheaper tho.
Great Product June 28, 2010 D. Chiasson (CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been purchasing equipment to allow me to workout at home rather than the gym. The AKROwheels looked like an interesting product. I have been very happy with the variety of movements and level of difficulty that can be created with these. Much more so then a regular ab wheel. If you are looking for something to work your abs I highly recommend these.
A different exercise routine May 27, 2010 wkuri 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I like the AKROwheel because its portable and it gives me a different way to work my abs and body. I am a bit uneasy doing pushups on it from the other reviews of the wheel breaking, but it seems like its pretty sturdy so far.
The best way to get a workout from these is to watch various videos on line, otherwise, you might get bored with them.
Fair price for what it does. Im happy I bought mine.
Broken wheel after first use. May 16, 2010 noyb 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
After my first, minimal, use, a wheel broke off.
There appears to be a metal plate (poorly) welded to the ends of the, hollow, metal hand holds (which are covered in foam) to which the wheel is attached by a screw.
This seems to be an intrinsically poor design choice, given the normal stresses that would be placed on the wheel.
I recommend avoiding this product as failure at a inopportune moment might cause injury.
I returned mine for a refund.
Great, low impact workout! May 4, 2010 Robert S. Tobias (Arlington, VA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My experience has been that AKROwheels and the accompanying workout sessions provide a quick, low impact, effective workout that focuses on stretching and increasing muscle tone. In fact, I bought them to use during TV commercials. (Yes, it's come to that) So far they are working out perfectly.
The product comes with three workout sessions on DVD. They go from easy to hard. In every case the instructor/coach goes through a complete set of rep's, you are shown the exercise from several camera angles, and a voice-over provides coaching tips and advice. The wheels themselves are well made and have easily withstood my 210 pounds. A small wrench is included in case any adjustments are needed.
The great point about the DVD is that is not only provides you with thorough instructions but also paces each exercise. The bad point about the DVD was that it was a DVD. Having the coaching along with the exercise is a real plus. However, I don't always want to do it in front of a TV or have to load the DVD before each exercise session. I solved the problem by loading the three sessions onto my iPhone. Now all I have to do is set my phone on the floor in front of me and I'm good to go.
Another great feature is they can be easily disassembled (using the included wrench). That means if you travel frequently, these can be taken along for a quick workout in your hotel room.
The AKROwheels folks have even been kind enough to post the sessions on YouTube. That allows people with similar "smart" devices and not sufficiently savvy (I was fortunate to have an 8 year old nephew at my disposal) to get the same benefit. I did check YouTube there are a boatload of other exercises for AKROwheel owners to try. However, if you want to find the Official Works (same as they are on the DVD) go to YouTube and search for "AKROwheels Workout #1", "AKROwheels Workout #2", or "AKROwheels Workout #3". (Be sure to include the quotation marks.)
